Week 1 - The song I have chosen to recreate is Dr.Dre Ft. Snoop Dogg - The Next Episode. I am going to recreate this song using reason. Using the variety of skills I have learnt during learning aim A. The song consists of a simple guitar tune with drums. First of all, I am going to download the song I have chosen and start on the drum track. The holiday destination I have chose is Detroit. This song fits Detroit because the type of music fits the feel of Detroit. This is because rap is popular there.
Week 2 -Beats per minute for chosen song: 95 beats per minute.
Instruments involved in the song: Drums and guitar.
The drums introduce the song and then the guitar starts immediately after the drums stop, but shortly start again.
Week 3 - This lesson I will be starting to make my guitar beat. None of the reason guitar options sound like the guitar in the song, so I am going to experiment with the pitch and see if how close I can get it. The acoustic steel guitar sounds the closest to the song. My strengths in this part is the implementing of the beats themselves. My weaknesses are making the guitar sound the same.
Week 4 - There was some difficulty with adding in the guitar because there was an error with recording so I am going to retry it. I have perfected the drums, but the guitar seems to be to high pitched and if i go any further down the keyboard it sounds to low pitch.My strengths are the drums as I have made them sound as realistic as I could. The weaknesses were making the guitar sound the same as in the song itself.
Week 5- I am now going to record the guitar beat into my reason track. It is going to be difficult because the pitch still isn't perfected.
Week 6- The guitar is now finished and goes with the drums correctly. I have recreated the main part of the song.
Week 7- I am now working on making the guitar I have used in reason, sound like the guitar featured in The Next Episode.
Week 8- I am now about to start the next part of the song. This features a low guitar strum straight after each other. This will be difficult because the lower guitar notes of the keyboard are far too low for it to sound like the song, so the pitch will have to be changed in order to make it work. My strengths were getting the low guitar beat itself and my weaknesses were making the guitar sound the same.
Week 9- The guitar is finished completely and works well with my selected drums. I now need to search for a new guitar to make it sound as much like the original as possible.
Week 10- I am now working on the bassline of the song. This is a very deep sound which I am going to try to create in the synthesiser.
Week 11- The bass I am going to use for the beginning of the song is going to be the sub bass 1 or 2. This is because it is deep enough to make it sound as realistic as possible.
Week 12- I have mixed my track to make the bass, treble and pan setting correct as well as reverb.
