These are the pictures of all of the components we will be using throughout the course to record other people's music.
Through a range of recording sessions, I am going to practice and learn how to organise and plan recording studio sessions. My Learning Aim A is demonstrated by my planning of each practice recording session, demonstration of use of equipment, and describing the organisation of each recording session.

Week 1:
Today we set up a drum kit, we then recorded it by placing 2 microphones above the kit. We did this task so we can fully use the skills we have learned to set up a drum kit on our own for our next task which involves us getting someone to record. This will mean we have to set up the equipment ourselves.

Week 2: Today I recorded the violin and wrote up a worksheet on it. This is good because it allows us to understand what people in the music industry have to do to set up their equipment.
Week 3: Today I learnt how to set up a drum kit and use microphones to record them. This was good because it means we know how to do this in the future. This allows us to fully understand and use the course for things in the future.
Pros and Cons of using a pop shield:
Pros-
- High quality sound when correctly placed.
- Stops saliva from entering the microphone and breaking it.
- Stops electrocution if the mic fails.
- The pop shield itself requires no wires, other than the wires for the mic itself.
Cons-
- Can be obstructive to the microphone
- If set up incorrectly, the help it provides will be irrelevant. Therefore, the dangers of not using one will apply.
Overall, the pop shield provides more Pros than Cons. It is needed to prevent dangers such as electrocution and breaking the microphone. This means a pop shield should be used all of the time.
Pros and Cons of Other Microphone types (Dynamic and Condenser):
Pros:
- Condenser has a higher frequency response
- Dynamic's are extremely resistant to moisture.
- Dynamic is cheaper than condenser.
- Condenser has a louder output.
Cons:
- Condenser mics tend to be much more expensive than dynamic.
- Condenser mics require an external power supply.
- Dynamic mics tend to have lower quality/ less accurate outputs.
- Dynamic mics are very small.
Overall, the two types of mics are good in different situations. But are not better than each other.
This is the timetable for my recording sessions
